Pat Cummins believes David Warner will have a successful ODI World Cup in 2023. Australia’s ODI World Cup campaign will begin on Sunday, October 8, against Team India in Chennai.
Finally, the major cricket carnival of the ODI World Cup 2023 has arrived, and much debate has ensued regarding the teams that have yet to begin their campaign. As the countdown has begun, numerous captains have begun to devise their final tactical strategies against their opponents. While planning is vital, a captain’s optimism about their top players is another factor that motivates the entire team to give their all on the field with both the bat and the ball.
In the similar line, Australia is hoping to get off to a good start against none other than the hosts, India, and captain Pat Cummins is optimistic that his explosive veteran opener David Warner can perform well in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. He praised the opener for coming on at the perfect time and for being consistent for a long time. Notably, Warner hit back-to-back half-centuries for Australia in the just ended ODI series against India.

Our batting order played a lot in India, so they know most of Indian bowlers: Pat Cummins
Notably, Australia will face Team India in their first ODI World Cup 2023 match on Sunday, October 8, in Chennai. Pat Cummins mentioned that his team has been practicing spin bowling in preparation for the Indian conditions. In addition, the Men in Yellow recently played an ODI series against India, which they lost 2-1. Cummins, on the other hand, believes his hitters have already devised strategies to deal with spin spinners.
“Our preparation begins with training in the days leading up to the game.” The Australians use a lot of spin. “Our batting order has played a lot and done well in India, so they know most of the (Indian) bowlers and have a plan in place,” Cummins explained.
Furthermore, Pat Cummins did not miss an opportunity to remind his team that they won the final ODI of the series against India, which bolstered the confidence of the Australian batters significantly since they constitute the majority of their strongest playing XI. Aside from that, the 30-year-old stated that Australia has a strong record versus India in the 50-over format.
“We are really confident. Had a good win in the third ODI (in Rajkot), which is probably a bit closest to our strongest XI. We have had pretty good records in ODIs in India,” the Australian captain concluded.
