The Australian fast bowler, who concluded the 2015 World Cup as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets from eight innings at an average of 10.18 and an economy of 3.50, is notable for being at his most frightening during these tournaments.

The 33-year-old also concluded with a record 27 wickets from ten innings at an average of 18.59 and an economy of 5.43, making him the tournament’s top wicket-taker for the 2019 season. Notably, he eclipsed the famous Glenn McGrath, who had picked up 26 wickets in the 2007 tournament, to set a record for the most wickets taken in a single World Cup edition with 27.

Mitchell Starc 23 wickets away from becoming the leading wicket-taker in World Cup history

Starc has taken nine wickets in the four games he has played this year and is looking forward to another exciting World Cup. With 49 wickets from 18 games, he presently holds the fifth-best position in World Cup history’s list of leading wicket-takers.

In order to surpass McGrath’s record of 71 wickets in a World Cup career, Starc needs to take 22 more wickets in the forthcoming tournament.
