‘I never envisaged playing in the Asia Cup’ -Shreyas Iyer after making his international comeback.
Shreyas Iyer, India’s batter, raised doubts about playing in the Asia Cup due to his sluggish recovery. Iyer injure in his back during the fourth and final Test against Australia in March.
Shreyas underwent surgery in London in April following his injury before traveling to the NCA in Bengaluru for a three-month recovery period. Shreyas made his long-awaited return to international cricket through the Asia Cup. After missing out on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the World Test Championship final against Australia, and the multi-format series against the West Indies.
“It’s fantastic, and I never imagined myself playing in the Asia Cup. Because my recovery slow and steady.” But I am overjoy when I was chosen for the team. “I’m fine, and we’ll just take it as the next game. ” Shreyas reported as saying by India Today.

Delight to be playing against Pakistan’s bowlers: Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas also discussed facing Pakistan’s pace trio in the event. Notably, if India and Pakistan advance for the Super 4 and final, they could play three games in the competition.
“There are always nerves when playing against India, but we are confident in our preparations.” Pakistan has been playing some fantastic cricket recently. We are extremely fortunate to be a part of this game, which is being guided by Rohit Sharma. I’m thrilled to be facing Pakistan’s bowlers. “The plan is to stay in the moment and play the situation,” he added.
Shreyas has played 42 One-Day Internationals and scored 1631 runs, including 14 fifties and two centuries at an average of 46.60. The batter will hope to produce a strong performance in the ACC event before focusing on the much-anticipated ODI World Cup in India.
