Former Australian captain Steve Smith has shown interest in seeing how England’s Bazball tactic will do against Australian bowlers in the forthcoming Ashes series. Smith demonstrated his mastery by blasting his 31st Test at the Oval in the World Test Championship 2023 final. He hit his century early on Day 2 and helped Australia post a huge 469. Smith hit 19 fours in his 121-ball 268-run innings.

India’s hitters struggled against Australia’s quick bowlers, as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both fell quickly to Pat Cummins and Scott Boland. Later, Cameron Green dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara, while Mitchell Starc dismissed Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Smith is skeptical that England’s aggressive methods will be effective against them in the Ashes.
“It’s a pleasant place to play.” In terms of English wickets, I suppose it’s as close to Australia as you can get. I’ve had a lot of fun playing here, and it was great to get some points again. I mean, I think it’d be difficult to come out and swing on a wicket like this, which is up and down and seaming all over the place. So, yeah, I think I said it when Bazball first launched that I’m curious to see how it works against our bowlers. “I’ve said that the whole time,” Smith said during the post-match press conference.

The 34-year-old also admitted that the England cricket team turned things around in Tests last year, but how they fair against them remains to be seen.
“They’ve obviously done well against other attacks, but they haven’t yet faced us.” So, we’ll see what happens. It’s clearly been thrilling to witness. I must say, I’ve enjoyed seeing the way they’ve played and the way they’ve turned things around in the last year or so, but we’ll see how that plays out against us,” Smith added.
