Following the conclusion of the competition, famous spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took to social media to mock teenager Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chahal joked that he didn’t get enough time to bat since Jaiswal spent all of his time in the nets.
“Uske chakkar mein mujhe batting nahi mili nets mein (Because of him, I didn’t get to bat in the nets)” (laughs). Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the most runs for RR in the IPL 2023.
The 21-year-old Jaiswal was outstanding for Rajasthan Royals, scoring the most runs for his club and finishing as the leading run-scorer. Jaiswal amassed 625 runs at a 48.07 average and a 163.61 strike rate.
In the high-octane encounter against Mumbai Indians, the teenager also got his first IPL century, and his innings at the top of the order were essential for the Royals in many games. Overall, he finished fifth in the competition, trailing Shubman Gill, Faf du Plessis, Devon Conway, and Virat Kohli.
However, his performances were unable to drive Rajasthan to the tournament’s knockout stages. As they were eliminated from the league stages after finishing fifth in the IPL points table with 14 points in 14 matches, one win short of entering the playoffs.
