The first two Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test matches were won by India. India won the first Test against Australia at Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs. The hosts defeated Australia by six wickets in the second Test to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The victory over Australia in the second Test has moved them closer to the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
With an impressive win over Australia in the second Test, India hopes to qualify for the WTC final. To secure the series, India must win one of the final two matches. India’s points percentage increased from 61.66 to 64.06 after winning the Delhi Test. India is in second place, having won 10 of sixteen matches, with four defeats and two ties.
Australia, on the other hand, must avoid a 4-0 thrashing in order to qualify for the WTC final, but if they do, they will be relying on other results. After losing to India in the second Test, the table leaders’ points percentage dropped from 70.83 to 66.67.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has the opportunity to compete in the final in June. Sri Lanka must first win their next two Tests against New Zealand.
