Umran was very predictable: Salman Butt. ‘The batter was more savvy, and he took use of Umran’s speed really effectively,’ Butt said.
Umran Malik struggled against Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the series on Thursday. The fast bowler got three wickets in four overs but gave up 48 runs as the visitors reached a mammoth 206/6 in Pune. India eventually lost by 16 runs, however after the game, veteran cricketers complimented Umran for his dismissals, especially his remarkable pace.
In two of his three dismissals, he bowled a 147-kph delivery and a 140-kph delivery. Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt believes that if Umran is to prosper in international cricket, he must diversify his arsenal. Butt argued in the second game of the series that Umran lacked experience and was predictable as a rookie pacer.
“With practice, you grow better. Because he lacked experience, he gave up so many runs. He was in good rhythm, and his movement was smooth. His speed was perfectly on par. The difficulty was that the batter was more experienced and clever, and he took advantage of Umran’s speed quite well. “Umran was extremely predictable; he didn’t bowl yorkers or slower ones,” Butt was reported in the Hindustan Times as saying.

You will not get experience by sitting outside: Salman Butt
India’s new-look lineup includes young players like as Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik, Shubman Gill, and Rahul Tripathi. Three newcomers have made their debuts in the last two games: Gill, Mavi, and Tripathi.
In the absence of the senior players, Hardik Pandya is guiding a rather inexperienced squad to a two-run victory over the Asian champions in the first T20I. Malik is the series’ leading wicket-taker after two games, with five scalps to his name. He has not gone wicketless in either game.
“When he spotted the batter creating place for himself, he might have delivered the yorkers outside the off-stump. He didn’t do it either. As a result, experience is important. You will not get experience by sitting outside. You must allow him to play. Because he will take wickets and win you games in tight situations,” he remarked.
