Robin Uthappa remembers his 2015 Zimbabwe tour. Uthappa last appeared for India on a tour of Zimbabwe in July 2015.
Robin Uthappa, an Indian batter and one of the 2007 T20 World Cup heroes, known for his fearless style of cricket back in the day. He is an elegant stroke maker, a natural ball timer, and he has some big shots in his arsenal. His career took off immediately after he played the famous 86-run knock against England in his ODI debut in 2006.
Uthappa last play for India in Zimbabwe in July 2015, and he back in the country as a broadcaster for the recently conclude India tour of Zimbabwe. He recently opened up about an incident from 2015 involving a phone call from Indian management, which could have changed his chances of ever representing the national team again.
For the 2015 Zimbabwe tour, India sent out a second-string squad led by Ajinkya Rahane, with Uthappa among the players. He was aware that this would be his final chance to cement his place on the team. Uthappa, a natural opener, state that he only ask to bat in the middle order after arriving in Zimbabwe.

“I told I’d bat down the order only after we got to Zimbabwe,” Uthappa said on Sony Sports Network. “As I am getting ready to start the innings, I thought to myself, ‘Oh, I’ve got to realign myself.'” Murali Vijay and skipper Rahane were the openers on that tour.
Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim, who served on the selection committee at the time, was also a member of the Sony Sports Network expert panel. “Yes, Robin, we were considering you as a backup wicketkeeper,” Saba Karim said.
Uthappa, on the other hand, did not have a great tour with the bat, and it turn out to be his final appearance in an Indian jersey. He appeared in 46 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 13 Twenty-Twenty-Innings (T20Is), scoring 934 and 249 runs, respectively. He was last seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) (CSK).
