CSK-owned Johannesburg franchise signs CSA T20 League contract Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali. Maheesh Theekshana of CSK has also joined the franchise.
The South Africa T20 League, organize by Cricket South Africa (CSA), is set to begin play next year, and the six franchises have already begun recruiting players.
On August 21 (Sunday), the Chennai Super Kings (CSK)-owned Johannesburg franchise signed several star players, including former CSK opening batter Faf du Plessis and two current players, Moeen Ali and Maheesh Theekshana. For the inaugural edition, the Johannesburg team has also signed contracts with West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd and Gerald Coetzee.
Both Moeen and du Plessis are currently competing in The Hundred, while Shepherd has recently performed national duties as a member of the West Indies squad that played New Zealand in T20I matches. Coetzee has not made his international debut, but he has performed admirably in the domestic arena, where he has taken 83 wickets.

“According to CSA rules, we are permit to select four players from the contracted list of available players… South Africa has one marquee player. “Three from the balance, no more than two from one country,” K. S Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited, quoted as saying following the signings.
“We have chosen Faf, Moeen, Maheesh, and Romario as the four players contract by Cricket South Africa.” We are also permit to bring one South African development player. We chose Gerald based on Faf’s recommendation. For the last ten years, he has been the backbone of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He has been one of our team’s most consistent players. “We were unlucky not to get him in the last IPL auction,” he added.
