Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will most likely miss the ODI series against the Netherlands, which is set to begin on August 16. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has admitted that the left-arm pacer will be rested for at least the first two T20Is.
Following the ODI against the Netherlands, the Men in Green will face arch-rivals India in the opening match of the 2022 Asia Cup. To be sure, India and Pakistan will meet again during the 2022 T20 World Cup, which will be held in October of this year.

We’re concerned about his fitness and health in the long run: Shaheen Afridi vs. Babar Azam
“We’re looking long-term at his fitness and health. We want him to play a game against the Netherlands if he’s fit and be ready for the Asia Cup,” said Babar Azam in a press conference.
“We’ve got eleven trump cards.” On their day, each of them can be a matchwinner. “I believe in all of them, batters and bowlers alike,” he added.
The left-arm seamer is currently out with a knee injury, but he has been named to the Asia Cup. Pakistan’s management will want Shaheen to get in shape before their crucial match against the Men in Blue.
Babar also mentioned pacer Hasan Ali, who was left out of the squad. He believes the right-arm pacer can regain his form in domestic cricket and return to the national team.
“Our fast-bowling bench strength is outstanding.” They now have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. This is how you increase the size of your pool. Yes, he’s out of shape (Ali), but he doesn’t have to prove anything. Domestic cricket is approaching. He’ll play that and hopefully make a strong comeback,” Babar added.
The Men in Green are in excellent white-ball form, and they will want to build on their success against the Netherlands and in the upcoming T20 Asia Cup in 2022.
