Rishabh Pant named ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant unbeaten century that help India defeat England. By five wickets in the third One-Day International (ODI) at Old Trafford in Manchester, bringing the series to 2-1. Pant even seen spraying champagne on captain Rohit Sharma during the team’s celebrations. Virat Kohli also seen doing the same to Shikhar Dhawan and Arshdeep Singh, who were force to flee the former captain.
Pant, of course, has a lot of experience playing for India when Shastri was the head coach.
Shastri’s tenure end with the 2021 T20 World Cup, and he succeeded by Rahul Dravid.
Hardik Pandya’s brilliant bowling performance in the series decider helped India bowl out England for 259.
The all-rounder finished with a 4/24.
However, India was in trouble from the start, as openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were both dismissed within the first five overs.
Virat Kohli would soon follow, and even Suryakumar Yadav would not last long.
With India at 72/4, Pant and Hardik put on a brilliant 133-run partnership to save their team and propel them to a commanding position.
After Hardik was out for 71, Pant picked up the pace and reached his century with Ravindra Jadeja at the crease.
Pant then hit five consecutive boundaries off David Willey in the 42nd over and then reverse-swept Joe Root off the first ball of the next over to help India win comfortably.
