Mohammad Rizwan explains the remark about “our Virat Kohli.” “Other players told me, ‘Virat is aggressive and all,’ but the way he met me before and after the game was incredible,” Rizwan said.
Mohammad Rizwan, a Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman, has heaped praise on Virat Kohli and spoken about how he felt interacting with the former Indian captain during the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match in the UAE last year. After Pakistan’s convincing 10-wicket victory, Kohli exchanged pleasantries and hugged Rizwan and Babar Azam.
Apart from meeting Kohli, Rizwan also recalled his first interaction with MS Dhoni at the event. Dhoni was the Indian team’s coach for the T20 World Cup. At the same time, the Pakistan batting sensation expressed his gratitude to the Indian players for their love and affection.

‘Its the first time I met Virat Kohli,’ Mohammad Rizwan recalls their first meeting.
“It was my first time meeting Kohli. What I’d heard about him… other players had told me, ‘Virat is aggressive and all.’ But the way he met me before and after the game was incredible. If I said, “He’s our Virat Kohli,” it’s because we’re all family. “Obviously, no one is a star when we enter the ground,” Rizwan said on Waheed Khan’s YouTube show Cricket Baaz.
“There is no brotherhood or anything like that there.” But when we met Kohli and some of our players met MS Dhoni off the field, we met with a lot of love and affection. “Nothing had changed,” he added.
This year’s Asia Cup, which will be played in T20 format, will pit the arch-rivals against each other. More importantly, all eyes will be on the highly anticipate T20 World Cup match on October 23 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. While the Men in Blue would like to make amends for their humiliating loss in Dubai last year, the Men in Green would like to put on a similar performance at the MCG.
