Yuzvendra Chahal has been the go-to man for Rajasthan Royals with the ball in hand in IPL 2022. The leg-spinner delivered once again on Friday night, taking two wickets against Chennai Super Kings. Despite a whirlwind knock from Moeen Ali, Chahal dismissed Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni as RR restricted CSK to 150 for six. Chahal’s two wickets tied him with South African veteran Imran Tahir for the most wickets taken by a spinner in a single edition of the Indian Premier League.

Chahal currently leads the IPL record Purple Cap race with 26 wickets this season. Tahir had taken 26 wickets in 17 matches for CSK in the 2019 IPL.
Chahal has already matched that total in 14 games and looks set to break it. If RR finishes second in the IPL points table and makes the playoffs.
The leg-spinner was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL mega auction for 6.50 crore after the Royal Challengers Bangalore decided not to keep him.
Chahal has repaid the RR management’s faith in him by picking up a bagful of wickets.
He leads the Purple Cap race by 24 wickets over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Wanindu Hasaranga.
The Sri Lankan, along with the rest of the RCB team, will be hoping that Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals on Saturday, allowing RCB to qualify for the playoffs ahead of DC.
A win for DC would effectively end RCB’s participation in the IPL 2022, making Chahal the clear favorite to win the Purple Cap.
