IPL 2022: Hardik Pandya Says He “Was Getting Ready For Super Over” During GT’s Exhilarating Win Over SRH
Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets at the Wankhede Stadium; in Mumbai on Wednesday in Match 40 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season; led by Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan. Thanks to the all-rounders’ unblemished knocks, GT achieved 199 for five in 20 overs, surpassing the goal of 196 runs. Rashid scored 31 runs off 11 deliveries, while Tewatia scored; 40 runs off 21 balls (four fours and two sixes) (four maximums).
Gujarat were down to 140 for five in 16 overs before Tewatia and Rashid mounted a stunning comeback; with the Afghan blasting Marco Jansen for three massive sixes in the final over to bring his team to victory. Due to the intensity of the last over; GT captain Hardik Pandya began preparing for a Super Over, but was quickly calmed down by head coach Ashish Nehra.
“I’ve begun viewing the game as a neutral nowadays,” Pandya told Rashid and Tewatia on the IPL’s official website. I’m neither overjoyed nor depressed, because my actions will have an impact on the dugout as well.
But in every game, Ashu pa (Ashish Nehra) and I have the feeling that ‘this game is getting tighter.'”

Pandya further said that when Tewatia returned his thigh pad, it caused Hardik/l to believe that the batters were attempting a Super Over.
“I was getting ready for Super Over when Ashu bhai said, ‘Hey, hold on!'” he explained. We’re only going to end this here.’ When you (to Tewatia) returned the thigh pad, I thought to myself; “These people are going for the Super Over!”
Tewatia disclosed why he returned his thigh pad by saying, “If the bowler delivers a yorker; I assumed Rashid bhai will play his regular shot through the center of his legs towards the square boundary. I reasoned that if it wasn’t a six, I had no choice but to run. Rashid bhai, on the other hand, was the one who did it.”
