“I thought we’d give him (Kuldeep) his final over from the other end,” the DC skipper explained. “But the ball continued becoming wet, and I also wanted to change the speed, so I called in the fast bowlers, but it didn’t work.”

“We were thinking (about the wobble) because we lost too many wickets in the middle, but we also thought if we took the game deep enough, we might win it,” Pant said of a stretch of play in which DC lost three wickets for just two runs.

DC moved up to sixth place in the rankings, tied on eight points with Punjab Kings, who are in seventh place due to a lower run rate.
