Ravi Shastri explains why Dinesh Karthik can make into India’s T20 World Cup squad. Dinesh Karthik is unbeaten in the first three games of the IPL 2022.
Dinesh Karthik, a veteran wicketkeeper-batter, has been signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL 2022 season after being released by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Karthik has proven to be their savior in the last few games, so the decision was spot on.
The Tamil Nadu cricketer has made such an impression that former India coach Ravi Shastri believes he can be considered India’s finisher for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Shastri went on to say that Karthik is not only experienced, but he also has a wide range of shots at his disposal.
The middle-order powerhouse has scored 90 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 204.5. He’d like to keep up his excellent form in the future.

There is no Dhoni in the side anymore, so you’ll need a finisher as well: Ravi Shastri
“With the amount of cricket played and the injuries that can occur, if you have a good IPL season, which I believe he is correct in thinking in that manner.” “He has started off really hot, and if he has a cracker jack of a season, he will surely be in that mix,” Ravi Shastri told ESPNcricinfo.
“He has the experience, he has all the shots… There is no Dhoni in the side anymore, so you’ll need a finisher as well. But you also have to consider how many keepers you want – Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, and now Karthik. “And if there’s an injury there, he automatically comes in,” he added.
Dinesh Karthik has yet to score a half-century this season, but all three of his knocks have been significant. He hit 32 off 14 balls against PBKS, 14 off seven balls against KKR, and a quickfire 23-ball 44 against the Rajasthan Royals. Karthik went undefeated on all three occasions and was named Player of the Match against the Royals.
On April 9, RCB will face the Mumbai Indians at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
