IPL 2022: After a shaky start as CSK captain, Ravindra Jadeja is hoping for a “click”
Ravindra Jadeja is refusing to worry despite the fact that his captaincy of the Indian Premier League; champions Chennai Super Kings has started badly with three straight losses. On Sunday, the four-time IPL winners were defeated by Punjab Kings by 54 runs; dropping to ninth place in the 10-team league.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former India captain, stood down as Chennai captain two days before; the start of the new season, handing the reins to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, a left-handed batsman and spin specialist.
“I’ve been preparing (for the job) since he (Dhoni) told me about it a few months ago,” Jadeja, 33; told reporters. “I was mentally prepared to take over. I’m not under any kind of duress. I’m just following my instincts and going with whatever concept comes to mind.”

After taking over the role last month, Jadeja confessed he had “big shoes to fill,” but said; he was benefiting from Dhoni’s experience.(He) contributes his ideas. He’s a seasoned captain, and I believe we’re fortunate to have such a strong leader in our ranks.”
On Saturday, Chennai will confront the bottom-ranked Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Jadeja is beyond; any doubt that the club is fair one win absent from turning their fortunes around within the two-month league. “In T20 cricket, it’s as it were a matter; of one win to turn the tide in our favor,” Jadeja remarked.
