Babar Azam Makes History As Pakistan’s First Captain In One-Day Internationals Against Australia
In the history of one-day international cricket. No Pakistan captain has ever scored a century against Australia, with former captain Imran Khan holding the previous record.
Imran had hit 82 runs against Australia in an ODI at Brisbane in 1990.
Imran is followed by Javed Miandad, who reached 74 not out in Sharjah in 1987, and former captains Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez. Who both scored 72 in one-day internationals against Australia.
Babar’s innings were nothing short of a masterclass. As he went on to hit 11 fours and one six at a strike rate of 137.35.
Babar’s century also helped him set a new world record.
In his 83rd inning, he became the fastest batsman in ODI history to reach the 15-ton mark.
This was 23 innings faster than Virat Kohli, who was in third position.
Hashim Amla, a former South African batsman, is second on the list, having scored 15 hundred in 86 innings.
