India earned their first win of the series with this victory, although the White Ferns won the ODI series 4-1.
India’s opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana put on a 29-run stand while chasing 252, however Verma was bowl by Hayley Jensen in the fifth over (9). Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana then joined forces at the crease and put on a 60-run second-wicket stand.

By defeating Deepti (21) and bringing in Harmanpreet Kaur, Fran Jonas was able to break up the partnership. India were driven to 153/3, still 99 runs short of their mark, after Mandhana and Harmanpreet put up 64 runs. Jensen (71) outshone Mandhana (71) and India were reduce to 153/3.

Harmanpreet Kaur reached her half-century, but with India remaining 27 runs short of their target, Harmanpreet (63) was dismiss. Mithali Raj (57*) and Richa Ghosh (7*) of India, on the other hand, clinched an easy victory.
