India’s squad for the Sri Lanka series had also announced; Rohit Sharma, India’s white-ball captain, has been name Test captain ahead of the two-match series against Sri Lanka, while Jasprit Bumrah has been name his deputy.
The first Test against Sri Lanka would be held in Mohali on March 4. Did follow by the second in Bengaluru on March 12.
Rishabh and Shardul had been decide to rest for India’s tour of Sri Lanka. Whilst also Kohli has also been rest for the T20I series but will play in the Tests.
Rohit Sharma has now been name Test Captain ahead of the Sri Lanka series, while Virat Kohli had rest for the T20Is.
Chetan Sharma, Chairman of the All-India Senior Selection Committee, stated that there “no discussion” about Rohit’s appointment and that he was a “clear choice.”

Chetan Sharma also state that Rohit will be the captain of the Indian cricket team in Tests going forward, unless he is unable to play due to injury or other reasons.
Meanwhile, veteran batters Pujara and Rahane have been drop from the Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka, but Chetan has stated that the pair’s “doors are still open.”
Washington Sundar and KL Rahul will also miss the entire home series against Sri Lanka if they do not recover quickly.
Chetan Sharma also stated that while Ravichandran Ashwin is a member of the Test squad, his participation in the series is contingent on fitness clearance.
“The team management will assess Ashwin’s fitness before the Mohali Test,” said the chairman of the Indian selection committee.
