Australia trounced England by an innings and 14 runs before lunch on the third day of the third Ashes test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday, with Player-of-the-Match Boland taking six wickets for seven runs. As far as test cricket debuts go, Australia’s fast bowler Scott Boland had a dream debut.

Ensuring they would retain the Ashes. England resumed on Tuesday on 31-4, behind by 82 runs in the first innings, and was bowled out for 68.
Boland is only the second Indigenous player to play for Australia’s men’s test team, with match scores of 7-55 and a record-equaling five wickets in 19 deliveries.
He was awarded the Johnny Mullagh Medal for Player of the Match, which honors Australia’s Indigenous team during their 1868 tour of England. In three Ashes series, Australia has whitewashed England 5-0: in 1920-21, 2006-07, and 2013-14.
Australia captain Pat Cummins said:
“It’s moments like these where everyone’s connecting, where everyone’s playing extremely well,”
The fourth test will begin on January 5 in Sydney, and the fifth will begin on January 14 in Hobart.
Cummins, the world’s No. 1 test bowler, was promoted to the position after former skipper Tim Paine resigned by sending graphic texts to a coworker.
England captain Joe Root, who hit 50 and 28 in the match. To become only the third player in test history to score over 1,700 runs in a calendar year, praised his team’s pride.
Root lauded his bowlers for maintaining his team in the game by keeping Australia’s first-innings lead below 100 runs.
Root, on the other hand, confessed that his team’s batting was not up to grade. And questioned if England’s domestic tournament was effectively preparing players for the five-day game’s challenges.
