Mominul Haque Bangladesh skipper remarked that playing too cautiously against Pakistan in the second Test cost his team wickets and that the batters needed to look for runs to have a better chance of surviving on the Shere Bangla National Stadium’s changing surface.
After three partnerships in the lower-middle order drew them deeper into the game, the home side was roughly 20 minutes away from drawing the Test. They were batting second after being knocked out for 87 in the first innings, in which many of Bangladesh’s players took risks that backfired.
Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque says:
“I don’t think anyone here believes in the process. Without results, it is very difficult,”
Mominul’s statement contrasted sharply with Najmul Hossain Shanto’s statement on Tuesday regarding Bangladesh’s hitters attempting to be aggressive on the fourth afternoon.
After Bangladesh’s defeat in Dhaka, Mominul stated:
“I really don’t think we played aggressively in either inning.”
“The question has taken me by surprise. When will you score the runs if you keep guarding the ball? Those who managed to escape took a calculated risk. You’re feeling this way because they’ve escaped. You must run when the opportunity arises. If our top four players had made runs, I believe things would have been much easier. When you don’t score in the top three positions, the rest of the lineup has a hard time keeping up.”

Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s lbw dismissal in the final hour of the fifth day, according to Mominul, demonstrated his belief that a less defensive approach, or body language, would have made him play the sweep stroke with more intent.
He also defended Mushfiqur Rahim’s slog-sweep to short midwicket and Liton Das’ caught and bowled attempt to go down the wicket in the first innings.
In Bangladesh, Mominul added, the overriding focus on results made putting in place a long-term transformation process challenging.
Mominul Haque stated:
“I have been unable (to reorganize the Test side).” “At the end of the day, everyone is looking for outcomes.” Nobody here, I suppose, believes in the process. It is extremely difficult to succeed without results.
“Captaincy is difficult, but I don’t believe it is difficult. I’m sitting here because I accepted the challenge. Few people accept this task. It is, in my opinion, a privilege. It’s critical how you behave as a team when it goes through such a period (as a captain). This is something I’m looking forward to.”
