BCB On Monday, president Nazmul Hassan announced that the board has approved Shakib Al Hasan’s request. To take a leave of absence from Bangladesh’s upcoming tour to New Zealand.
Hassan said a few days earlier that Shakib merely notified them “unofficially” of his unwillingness to join the tour, and that hours later, Shakib formally petitioned the board by handing them a letter.
Shakib Al Hasan’s stated:
“We have approved his request.” “We’ve been stating for a long time that we don’t mind if a player wants to take a break or rest, but it must be formally announced. The problem is that we like to be notified about such a decision ahead of time. Because it is harder for us to cope if we are informed unexpectedly. Starting in January, anyone who wants to take a break must notify us in advance so that we can plan alternate activities.”

Shakib has skipped a tour of Bangladesh for the third time in 2021. He skipped the white-ball tour of New Zealand in March owing to paternity leave. Then missed the two Tests against Sri Lanka in April to play in the Indian Premier League.
BCB has no problem with players seeking a sabbatical. According to Nazmul Hassan, but it should be done through official means
Shakib, Hassan believed, should have requested the leave in writing rather than informing them informally.
“To be honest, this [confusion] isn’t humiliating. Officially, we were simply unaware of it “Hassan remarked. “The problem is that these things have always taken place informally. To eliminate any misunderstanding, we are emphasizing the importance of making these items official.”
Bangladesh will play two Tests in New Zealand as part of the World Test Championship, starting on New Year’s Day. The team will depart on December 9 for quarantine and then practice matches.
