Mirwais Ashraf has been name acting chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). Ashraf, a former international, took over the dysfunctional board on Tuesday (November 23). The selection was produce in accordance with the ACB’s constitution, according to the organization.
Ashraf, who played 46 ODIs and 25 T20Is for Pakistan between 2009 and 2016, follows Azizullah Fazli, who took over the ACB shortly after the country’s new administration took office in August.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board said:
The appointment put together pursuant to Afghan Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhond’s directive No. 199, according to the ACB. It also said that until the Annual General Meeting (AGM), Ashraf will serve as acting chairman. The AGM will be held by the respect Board Members. “The board members will elect the new chairman through a transparent voting process in the AGM, in accordance with the ACB Constitution and international norms,”
Mirwais Ashraf said during a meeting with the board’s managers:
The board’s first goal, according to Ashraf, will be to build strong connections with the International Cricket Council and other national boards. He also stated that the ACB will ensure that women in Afghanistan were able to play the game normally. “Our ladies will be playing cricket on a regular basis, and we are trying to offer them all of the necessary facilities,”

He also emphasized the importance of adhering to the ICC criteria. Stating that the ACB valued the global body’s requirements. It should be note that the ICC has establishing a working group to report on the progress of the ACB.
However, Naseeb Khan, the ACB’s CEO, stated that the organization will match. The expectations of 30 million Afghans, and revealed that he had met with Sourav Ganguly, the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, in Dubai. “We had a productive meeting with Mr. Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI’s chairman. And we also met representatives from other cricketing nations to speak a lot about having bilateral ties with them,” he said in a statement.
