Gautam Gambhir believes that the all-rounder can still make a T20I come back if he can regain his rhythm and bowl regularly.
Hardik Pandya was left out of the squad for the T20I series against New Zealand after the T20 World Cup due to concerns about his fitness and bowling.
Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir believes that the all-rounder can yet make a comeback to the T20I team if he can regain his rhythm and start bowling regularly
Despite the fact that the cricketing fraternity has already written him off.
Hardik Pandya had been informed by BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma that he would bowl in the T20 World Cup at the time of the squad announcement, but the all-rounder only batted in the Pakistan opener, leaving skipper Virat Kohli with only five bowling options. Although he returned as a bowler in subsequent matches, the fitness issue persisted, and India’s quest for a new No.6 began.
In an interview, Gambhir expressed his belief that, while the process is lengthy, Hardik himself cannot be ruled out. Replacement players should be given a longer rope so that management can understand their skills, according to Gambhir.

Gautam Gambhir the ODI World Cup winner said:
“You have one day to find a No.6.” You won’t be able to replace it either. You can’t rule out Hardik Pandya, though. People have already written him off, but if he stays in shape, bowls regularly. And regains his form, he should be given another shot. As he is still young if you give other players a chance and a long rope, you will gain a better understanding of their capabilities.”
“You won’t be able to establish the best XI if you keep changing players after each series. Given the volume of cricket played in India, no player is invincible or unreplaceable. However, players must be trusted with the position for a longer period of time in order. To fully appreciate their skills,” Gautam added
Meanwhile, India has signed Venkatesh Iyer, who was chosen after a strong second leg. Of the 2021 Indian Premier League and solid performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali competition.
Despite the fact that he is yet to bowl after the first two games of the series. Which appeared odd given the fact that the next T20 World Cup is only a year away. Iyer scored 4 off 2 in the first game and 12 off 11 in the second.
