While some believed the award belonged to the Australian batter, others believed it belonged to Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who concluded the tournament as the best run-scorer. Babar finished first with 303 runs in six games, ahead of Warner, who scored 289 runs in seven games.
Former Pakistan pacer Akhtar expressed his disappointment with the ICC’s decision to award the award to Warner a day after the final.

Akhtar took to Twitter to say that Warner receiving the award was a “unfair decision.” Because Babar deserved it more than anyone else.
Wasim Akram, a former Pakistan captain, also weighed in on the argument. He explained that, while Babar was the tournament’s leading run scorer.
The criteria for selecting who prevails isn’t always determined by who scores the most runs.
