Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, will miss the three-match T20I series against India, which begins on November 17, in order to prepare for the two-Test series. In Williamson’s absence, Tim Southee will lead the team in the first encounter.
Media stated:
“With the opening game of the T20 series on Wednesday evening, followed by games on Friday and Sunday night – the decision was made for Williamson to join the Test specialist group already training in Jaipur as they focus on red-ball preparation,”
“Fellow dual squad member Tim Southee will captain the T20 side for the opening game on Wednesday, while Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, and Mitchell Santner are also available for both series,”

The three Twenty20 Internationals will be played on November 17 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. November 19 at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi, and November 21 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Williamson will return for the first Test, which will take place at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium on November 25. New Zealand cricket also issued a statement regarding pacer Lockie Ferguson’s availability for the T20I series against India. Ferguson missed the T20 World Cup due to a calf strain. But the 30-year-old is making solid progress and is expected to be fully healthy by game time.
