Sanju Samson posts cryptic tweet after being left out of India’s squad for New Zealand T20Is

Sanju Samson was left out of the 16-man squad despite playing in India’s ODI and T20I tours of Sri Lanka and, more recently, for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2021, where he scored 484 runs in 14 matches.

India’s 16-man selection for the three Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand, released on Tuesday, had a few surprises, both welcome and unexpected. For starters, experienced players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami were rested, while IPL trio Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan received their first international call-ups.

There were a few more notable absences, the most notable of which were Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, as well as spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Prithvi Shaw and Rahul Chahar were both picked into the India A team for the tour of South Africa.

Overall, the New Zealand side selected appears to cover all bases for the matches beginning November 17 in Jaipur. However, another name was left off the roster, one that few people are aware of.

Samson is said to have expressed his feelings over the omission through a cryptic statement on Twitter.

In the outfield, Samson has made some spectacular catches. Particularly those in which one fielder parries the ball back while the other completes the catch. Samson was at his athletic best in all three photos. Either catching the ball or throwing it back into the outfield.

Samson is currently representing Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Where he has scored 54, 45, and 56* in five games. He last played international cricket in July. Making 34 runs in three T20Is and 46 on his ODI debut against Sri Lanka.
