After his 15-run innings against Scotland in the ongoing T20 World Cup Super 12 match in Sharjah on Sunday, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan achieved a huge milestone.
Mohammad Rizwan is fifth run eclipsed West Indies hitter Chris Gayle’s record for most runs in a calendar year in T20I cricket.
Which he had set in 2015. Gayle scored a massive 1665 runs in T20I cricket six years ago, at an incredible average of 59.46.
In 36 games, he scored three hundred and ten fifties, with the top score of 151 not out. After his innings against Scotland, Rizwan has eclipsed Gayle and now has 1676 T20I runs this year.
This year, the Pakistan opening has a total of 115 half-centuries, the greatest of which is 104 not out.
In the present T20 World Cup, Rizwan has been in outstanding form. When he produced an amazing undefeated 79-run knock against India in their Super 12 opener, he showed his class.
Pakistan went on to win the game by a comfortable margin of 10 wickets.
Pakistan then defeated New Zealand before going on to defeat Afghanistan and Namibia.

Rizwan has played an important role in the current Pakistan squad.
Not only as a batsman but also as a wicketkeeper and as a leader.
With 1627 runs scored this year, Rizwan’s opening partner, skipper Babar Azam, isn’t far behind. And looks set to add more now that Pakistan has qualified for the T20 World Cup semi-finals.
