Aiden Markram: His victory happened in the turmoil of the team when DeKock interrupted the game according to CSA’s instructions and kneeled all players.
South Africa has completed its third successful car chase against the West Indies in four attempts and has gathered to get the T20 World Cup campaign on the right track.
They did so in the context of the turmoil:
First, the CSA board gave the team the option to collectively bend their knees and raise their fists or stand up before the match in this tournament.
There was an instruction to disappear. After standing on them, Quinton de Cock dropped out.
Since de Kock has not previously made a gesture in favor of anti-racism, a decision to participate in the next tournament will be made as soon as the team’s management reports to the board.
De Kock was messed up behind the stump but was replaced by the otherwise neat Heinrich Krasen and Lisa Hendrix, who was in good shape with the chase.
The South African attack retained the West Indies despite the modest 143 attacks by Evin Lewis.
Lendl Simmons was too late, Chris Gale did not come off, and the West Indies lost during the 11.83 run stands between Lassie van der Dussen and Aiden Lamb. In the 19th round.
Evin Lewis sparkles, Simmons doesn’t
Lewis and Simmons laid a solid foundation for the West Indies. When they shared the best opening booth 73 in a two-part partnership.
Lewis was an attacker, smashing 56 of the 35 balls. And all five 4s and two 6s came to the legside, but Simmons waited for his time and was only single.
I didn’t score. Simmons was dropped to 4 during bowling by Henrich Norche von Krasen. And when Lewis punched deep into the mid-wicket, he sneaked 13 out of 28 balls.
Simmons retired with 35 balls 16 after 3 overs. The longest unlimited ball in the Men’s T20 World Cup. And the third slowest World Cup inning with more than 30 balls.
South Africa’s comeback
On the starting platform, the West Indies sent Nicholas Pooran to third place to take over Gale’s spinner.
This was the first time Gail was out of the top three in the West Indies on the T20I. It didn’t really work for either.
Pooran scored 12 points before being captured by David Miller. But Gayle was there as the West Indies made the final three overs and threatened a six from Tabraiz Shamsi.
He became the first wicket with good death bowling from Dwayne Praetorius.
Dwayne Praetorius caught Gale behind a slow ball before Henrich Norche bowled Andre Russell with a pinpoint yorker. South Africa scored 22-5 in the final three overs.
Magnificent Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram was South Africa’s best T20I run-scorer in 2021. And the best run-scorer in its format in any calendar year, easily adapting to his role.
He made a crease and South Africa took 83 runs over 10.4 and had some time to get used to.
His first ploy was to send all of Hayden Walsh Jr.’s cargo six times via Longan. Followed by the same treatment to Kieron Pollard (via Square Leg) and then to Ravi Rampaul (via Mid Wicket).
It was to pass Mark Ram that provided the perfect slide for Van der Dussen. Who is not known for hitting too fast, allowing innings to balance heavy hits and careful accumulation? They made 83 runs with 57 balls to lead South Africa to a compelling victory.
